About the Journal

Overview

The Tribuana Journal of English Education is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to the scholarly exploration of English Language Teaching (ELT) and Applied Linguistics. Published by the English Education Department at Universitas Tribuana Kalabahi, the journal serves as a dynamic forum for researchers, scholars, and language practitioners to engage in critical dialogue, share innovative pedagogical strategies, and contribute to the evolution of English education in both local and global contexts.

Our Vision and Mission

Our mission is to bridge the gap between theoretical insights and the practical realities of the classroom. We envision a scholarly community where diverse voices—from seasoned academics to teachers in remote regions—converge to refine the future of language education. We are deeply committed to the democratization of knowledge; hence, we operate on a fully open-access model with no article processing charges (Free APC), ensuring that rigorous research is freely accessible to the global educational community.

Focus and Scope

We welcome original research, critical literature reviews, and case studies that address the multifaceted challenges and opportunities in the field. Our primary areas of interest include:

  • Pedagogical Innovations: Research on the integration of technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), and digital literacy, to enhance teaching efficiency and student engagement.

  • Teacher Identity & Professional Development: Critical inquiries into how English language teachers construct their professional identity, agency, and reflective practice, with a particular focus on those serving in diverse or rural educational settings.

  • Applied Linguistics: Insights into the mechanisms of language acquisition, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and English for Specific Purposes (ESP), providing a deeper understanding of how language operates within social and professional structures.

  • Instructional Methodology: Evidence-based approaches to developing receptive (listening and reading) and productive (speaking and writing) skills, alongside curriculum design and assessment strategies.

Editorial Integrity and Process

Quality and integrity are the cornerstones of our publishing process. Every manuscript submitted to the Tribuana Journal of English Education undergoes a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. This ensures that each publication meets the highest standards of academic excellence, methodological rigor, and ethical integrity. Our editorial team works closely with both reviewers and authors to provide constructive feedback that not only improves the quality of the work but also fosters the professional development of the contributors.

Our Commitment to the Future

Located in the heart of the Alor regency, our journal is uniquely positioned to document the intersection of local educational wisdom and global academic standards. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to elevating the standard of research in Eastern Indonesia while inviting perspectives from scholars worldwide. We believe that by fostering a collaborative environment for sharing research, we can empower educators to transform their classrooms into spaces of excellence, creativity, and critical inquiry.
